I get asked to do some crazy things as a beauty editor here in the city, but sometimes the craziest requests wind up being the most fun.

One freezing morning in Manhattan recently brought about a challenge via Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response deodorant. The whole premise is that you can’t really test a stress response until, you know, you’re stressed, so why not hang us upside down to get the REAL test of the product?

So, off we went to Aerial Arts in Midtown East (near Madonna’s Kaballah center, I might add for those of you who are star obsessed) and once we changed into workout gear, my fellow editors and I were treated to a light warm-up and then we broke into teams to test our skills on the sling, the silks and the trapeze.

You can see by the photos that we did, indeed, get a rather intense workout. I pooh-poohed the whole thing until I was upside-down in the sling. It took a couple of attempts, but now I’m all about it. I want to go back.

The noises I made while trying to get into the silks I'm sure were...graceful.

All of this was to test the deodorant. As someone who sweats enough for two people, this deodorant actually exceeded my expectations when it came to stress sweat, which actually really does smell worse than your regular old workout sweat because of the amount of bacteria that are present (it’s actually more nutrient-dense and less water-based than regular sweat, which means that the bacteria can feed on it and it smells worse.) The workout didn’t put a dent in the deodorant and no stinky pits were had.

TA-DA! Me in the silks! WOOT!

But then I put it through its real paces: eight days of New York Fashion Week. I’m thrilled to say that it held up beautifully and after racing across town for 14 hour days for well over a week, I can honestly say that the deodorant can more than take it.

As for me, this deodorant is now a staple of my wardrobe AND I use a favorite trick of mine: I put it on at night before I go to sleep. It gives it the evening to settle in when my body is cool, which means it can work harder when I wake up.

I’d recommend giving it a shot if you’re prone to sudden burst of stress sweat and/or you might have that big date/presentation/meeting/drinks thing coming soon. I’d rather not take chances, would you?

Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response Deodorant, $7.99 – $9.99, available via your local drugstore and/or big box retailer

I’m in a wedding this weekend, is this strong enough to keep me spot free in the dress?

I would dare say it will. I would recommend applying it the night before right before you go to bed and then AGAIN that morning just to be sure.
