Defying the Age of My Hair + Giveaway

December 18, 2013 • Beauty, Headline

Those of you who read this blog often know that I have no real issue with aging. I’m not sure it’s really productive to focus on things that just shouldn’t be a big deal. Everyone ages, and if you take care of yourself, it’s a fantastic journey. You have tales to tell, and you can watch other people make the same mistakes you’ve made and just sort of smile. No going back there again.

But one of the challenges of aging is while the heart and mind and body can remain flexible, other parts can show wear and tear, the most challenging of which is our hair. I struggle with dryness, brittleness and lack of luster just like everyone else, so when Pantene sent over their Pro-V AgeDefy collection, I was all in. Because if you can combine the time-reversing effects from the good folks of Olay with the magnificent mane products of Pantene, surely we have a winner here.

The combination of those two sciences creates a soothing, repairing set of products that pretty much cures your aging complaints about your hair. You know the signs that start to surprise you as the clock moves forward: frizz, lack of shine, unruly texture, rough texture, greys and thinness. These products, as I’ve discovered, deliver thickness, softness, smooth cuticles and plenty of volume and shine. It makes me incredibly happy, it’s the bouncy, glowing hair from years ago and it’s kind of changing my life.

I’ll also share one of my favorite tricks from aging, which is to add subtle layers around my face. I had blunt bangs for years, but I’ve found that just a layer here and there around my face adds subtle lift and angles that just make things a bit softer. Fighting with your texture? Ask your stylist to do the same.

I recently took my Pantene products on the road to Los Angeles for a television appearance and treated myself for a little time at the gym, and then by the pool. I ordered fresh juice, slathered my head with their Pantene Pro-V Age Defy Rejuvenating Hydration Hair Masque and lazed by the pool until it was dark. Which is when I remembered to take the photo. Oops. It’s still gorgeous.

It was such a Hollywood moment, but you can see the effects of the blowout: gorgeous, fun, amazing. Surrounded by starlets, movers and shakers, I relaxed with the knowledge that I would emerge with an amazing mane…and I did.

If I were 10 years younger, I would travel more. Ten years ago I didn’t have kids yet and we had more disposable income.
