I live to solve problems for people, especially when it comes to beauty and fashion dilemmas. Here are two reader questions that might just ring a bell with you, too:
“I have difficulty with false eyelashes. The lashes are either too dense, too long, they practically hit my brow bone, and/or the length is too long. I have to cut them to fit my eyes most of the time. Are there any natural looking lashes for those like me with smaller eyes, that can be worn daily?” – Lisa B.
Answer: Well, there are a couple of thoughts on this. I’m not sure wearing false lashes every day is a great practice, so I’m going to recommend two products for you. The first is that, in my experience as someone with flatter eyelids and larger eyes, I have the same issue with lashes that hit my eye pretty quickly. I think MAC 2 Lash False Eyelashes are my favorites for their varied lengths and their ability to look extremely natural OR glam.
I also love using CoverGirl Lash Blast Fusion (a volumizing and lengthening formula) right at the lash line to give the appearance of really thick-but-natural lashes.
“Can you recommend a foundation for combination skin? Powders stick to the dry patches making them look flaky! I’m currently using a “mousse” textured base that’s making the oily parts of my skin break out! I always moisturize with SPF first. Help!!” – Allison
Answer: Combination skin can be really tricky when it comes to foundation due to the issues you just described. The first thing I’m going to tell you to do is use a good exfoliant for combination/sensitive skin to help alleviate the dry patches so your complexion is more hydrated. I’m a huge fan of Simple Skincare Smoothing Facial Scrub, for which you might know I’m a Brand Ambassador. That aside, it really is one of my favorite products and it’s perfect for combination or sensitive skin, removing gently and leaving you with a hydrated and even face. I would then tell you to apply your moisturizer while your skin is still wet and let your face air dry to lock in moisture. That creates a great, hydrated base.
As far as foundation for combination skin, I’m a HUGE fan (as you might have heard) of the Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation. It gives even coverage and doesn’t exacerbate dry patches OR oily T-zones. It’s a wonder in a bottle.
That was so fun! Oh, and because these lovely readers were the first two to ask me questions, I’m GIVING THEM THE PRODUCTS I just recommended to solve their beauty problems! 🙂
Got a question? Ask me! I might just hook you up, too!
