Beauty Backstage: The Look at Christian Siriano Spring 2013 Collection with MAC Cosmetics, Aveda and CND

With its ballerina-inspired collection, the hair and makeup at Christian Siriano took a decidedly more delicate turn. Gorgeous top knots were the name of the game with hair, while makeup focused on flawless skin and a slightly flushed appearance that appeared as if the ballerina had dashed from the barre to an evening on the town. Black Swan it was not, this look was lovely and completely wearable.

The breakdown of how to achieve the look:

Nail: CND lead Angi Wingle created a delicate ballet slipper pink with just a touch of iridescence using CND Grapefruit Sparkle. It looked lovely with the collection and will be available spring 2013.

Makeup: Polly Osmond, Lead Artist for M∙A∙C Cosmetics, said that it was a very fresh take on the ballerina look, not super literal but more of a ballerina who’s just come from practice – flushed, pretty. The entire look is used with pinks and highlighters. She used pink blush to contour the entire face from the forehead all the way to the jawline, then added highlighter, a dab of the blush and a touch of the skin color on the lids. Brows were strong and defined but youthful (think naturally full, not pencil-enhanced,) which is on-trend for the coming season. Brown mascara on top and bottom lashes, add a little bit of highlighter in the corner of the eye for a brightening effect, and finish with a light, naturally-pink lip. Very girly, not over the top, delicate, pretty. I will get specific products shortly.

Hair: Blown out and twisted into a bun on the top of the head but slightly messy.

Products used: Aveda Pure Abundance volumizing hair spray for lift, Light Elements Texturizing Creme to add a bit of grip and imperfect panache, and Air Control hairspray. Here’s the view from the top.

All in all? A gorgeous and easy look for Spring, which is kind of the whole point of good spring beauty. Easy, heat and sweat-proof. 🙂 Here’s the final look.
