By the time you read this, the joy and the pain (and the agony of de feet) that is known as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will have already begun. As a nine season veteran of the event (four with FSB,) I can tell you two things: it’s a marathon, not a sprint and you want to be prepared.
In order to not look completely bedraggled during the next eight days of non-stop events, I have a survival kit of products that I’ll be using to make sure that I can keep looking fresh LONG after my body’s expiration date…which usually happens right about Monday night.
Visine Maximum Redness Relief Eye Drops – The strain the event takes on your eyes is pretty remarkable. Between the bright and low lighting changes, racing around the city to multiple environments and a combination of late night after parties and early morning call times for backstage, eyes get red fast. I’ll probably go through half a bottle in this week alone because it works incredibly fast. It also helps reduce the redness of a giant pimple in a pinch.
Visine Total Eye Soothing Wipes – Playing in all the makeup I get to play with is fun, but when I come home after the last after party, a total face cleansing is usually out of the question. I keep these next to my bed to take off my eye makeup and to soothe my tired peepers.
Moroccanoil – Multiple blowouts in a week sounds like a dream until your hair looks fried and lifeless after the third or fourth one. I apply this once in the morning and then at night to apologize for all the abuse my hair is about to take this season.
Band-Aid Blister Block – It doesn’t matter how comfortable your shoes are, eventually they WILL turn on you after the mileage you put on them (I’m going to cross the city four times today alone and that’s just between 8 am and 5 pm.) This genius product gets slathered on my feet liberally so I can make sure my feet survive. Because once blisters form, you’re in trouble.
Tata Harper Aromatic Irritability Treatment – Pushy people and fashion attitudes will abound this week and you can only put up with so much of that crap before you start contemplating a fashionista beat down. This genius, all-natural product helps calm nerves and mellow you out in even the craziest of lines.
So, I’m off. Follow me here for updates daily of what I saw at the tents and for up to the minute coverage, follow me on Twitter at @fashionstbeauty, where I’ll be posting photos and reporting LIVE all day.
