As part of my efforts to eat healthy and look better this year, I’m always on the hunt for beauty products that aren’t harmful (but effective) and healthy recipes that are waistline friendly (but delicious.)
Lo and behold, Clairol Natural Instincts got the message and invited me to an event with their spokeswoman, Giada de Laurentiis, to talk about healthy hair color and recipes that are tasty but not necessarily going to require Los Stretchy Pants.
Let’s just say that on first impression, Giada is tiny but mighty. And by that, I mean that not only is she incredibly friendly (she introduced herself personally to each person in the room before the demo), but girlfriend is RIPPED. Check out those arms, ladies.
And now, without further ado, let me break down the healthy recipe she queued up for us eager-to-live-better types who have a particular jones for dessert: Chocolate Avocado Mousse.
I know. You’re thinking, “THAT’S CRAZY TALK TO PUT THOSE TWO THINGS TOGETHER,” but I assure you that I tried what Giada threw together and I’m keeping this in my kitchen for regular use. IT IS AMAZING. The end result? Check it:
But the whole reason we were there was to talk healthier hair color and Natural Instincts is one of the best when it comes to delivering gorgeous, multi-level results at home without damaging the hair. It’s a nice way to get a subtle result that can easily blend away greys and washes out in 28 shampoos (which means that the dreaded “rootline” is avoided.)
As someone who loves to play with hair color but who has “sensitized hair” after chemical treatments, I LOVE Natural Instincts because I don’t have to worry about it wrecking my hair. It simply deposits color onto the hair with incredible shine and then it just eventually wears off. If you’re thinking, “Hey, I might want to rock a subtle color change this year,” I’d start here. These products are awesome.
Plus, with 32 shades and a price point of about $9, how can you lose? Check it out at your local drugstore or big box retailer and give it a go this weekend.
You can celebrate your new hair color with a serving of that rockin’ mousse recipe. 🙂
