So, I’m walking backstage at New York Fashion Week before the Marimekko show gets started, checking out the makeup looks that were created when what do I spy backstage with my little brown eyes but Simple Skincare Cleansing Facial Wipes! This got me thinking that it’s a thing of HONOR to make it into a kit for a top makeup artist at Fashion Week, as well as how important it is to remove your makeup.
Which is what we’re going to talk about right quick.
I’m going to go ahead and give you a minute to race through all the groans and moans, the aches and the pains of how TIRED you are when you get home, that it’s enough to make sure that you have your teeth brushed before you fall face first into your pillow at night, much less take your makeup off. Go ahead, girl, get it out of your system.
Now, let me break down the reasons why it doesn’t matter how tired you are, that sleeping in your makeup is wreaking havoc on your skin:
- Your skin repairs itself at night when the body is at rest. This is when all those wrinkles, lines, pimples and blackheads have a shot at going away. That can’t happen if your face is trying to repair itself with no assistance from you and underneath a giant pile of yuck from old makeup caked in smog, soot, dirt and pollution. Makes you want to cuddle right up, doesn’t it?
- Since your skin is smothering in a pile of foundation/sweat/grime/grease/bacteria, that also means that you’re pressing it INTO your skin. So, your pores are chowing down on day-old makeup at night, resulting in a minefield of sensitivity, blackheads, zits, dry patches and creases.
- If those two points don’t change your mind, let’s go for the hat trick of skincare maladies: premature aging and wrinkles. They’re going to happen, but if you sleep with weight on your face (and your makeup does actually weigh on your face, especially at the end of the day when it’s covered in dirt), it’s going to pull your face down and sideways.
So, for those of us who want to avoid these factors as well as sensitivity, it’s time to take the pledge. First of all, grab yourself a package of Simple Skincare Cleansing Facial Wipes. Place them next to your bed in your nightstand drawer. Open one up,grab a wipe in your left hand, place your right hand over your heart and repeat after me: “I do solemnly swear never to sleep in my makeup again. I don’t care what condition I may be in, I will at least take a cleansing wipe and attempt to remove some of the nastiness before my head hits the pillow.”
Good. Because these wipes are SO EASY to use, and now that they’re next to your bed, you have no excuse. Removing your makeup at night is being kind to your skin, which is just good common sense. It’s just that Simple.
