OK, so you know how crazy I am for hair products, especially ones that leave your hair sleek and amazing, soft and lovely, manageable and magnificent. For those of us with dry, unruly hair (and you know who you are), there is something that has just hit the market, a treatment so magnificent it can literally transform not just your hair but your whole attitude toward hair care altogether: the Shu Uemura Art of Hair Haircare Ceremony using their forthcoming Shusu Sleek products.
What is this little slice of magic, you ask? It’s a hair treatment based on the healing properties of Black Cumin Oil, an intense nourisher that hydrates and smooths the cuticle of your hair for sleek, shiny, smooth hair on a level not recently seen in nature (at least by me.) Black cumin oil was known as the “oil of the Pharoahs” – a fragrant complex oil complete with powerful antioxidants and a balance of essential fatty acids and Omegas 3, 6 and 9. Let’s put it this way: if legendary beauty Cleopatra could possibly have gotten her hands on this and caused the downfall of the Roman empire, this is something you need to use, period.
Let’s talk about the Haircare Ceremony done in the salon. It starts with their Shiatu Shampoo, a scalp massage that incorporates slow shiatsu massage gestures along with a mind-blowing scalp cleaning experience. It’s followed by a luxurious application of a treatment customized to your hair needs, then a rinse, and finally a blow out that will leave your hair nourished, sleek and so sexy you need to watch yourself when you walk out: you might flip your hair so much you could sprain your neck. Yep, it’s that good.
Check out your local salon to see if they’re going to offer the Haircare Ceremony (and if they don’t, um, demand it) and for those who care to repeat the ritual at home (like I did this weekend,) I cannot recommend products more strongly. Get the Shu Uemura Shusu Sleek Smoothing Shampoo ($45), Conditioner ($55) and Smoothing Treatment ($65, do the treatment once a week for great results) and then make sure you use their Essence Absolue Nourishing Protecting Oil ($65) to keep your new smooth hair healthy and smooth. It’s a little more costly but so are repeated blow outs and all the hair care items you’re blowing money on right now that aren’t working. Save yourself some money and buy one set of products that work and you’ll actually spend less over time. 🙂
Because honestly, for those of us who have to fight to get our hair to behave, it’s time for a truce. Put down those straightening weapons of heat destruction and plan to offer some Shusu Sleek as a peace offering. Your hair will thank you and we can have peace in this war against frizzy, unruly hair.
