There are very few shows that I make a point not to miss during New York Fashion Week, and Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet is one of them. If you’ve read this blog for a while, you know of my long-standing fan stance on all things A+O: party girl fun with amazing statement pieces that are meant to add serious punctuation to any look. You don’t really have to say anything when you’re wearing an Alice + Olivia piece: you arrive (which is the sentence) and then they get a good look at your amazing outfit (the exclamation point at the end of the statement.) If you add her bags and shoes, it’s just over: Best Dressed honors, done.

I’ve said before that the hottest party happening anywhere is when an Alice + Olivia presentation of any kind is happening, and this was no exception. The designer took over the McKittrick Hotel, site of the famed erotic play Sleep No More here in Manhattan. People are lined up around the block to move through the historically in tact rooms, with dark passages and mystery around every corner. The show was staged around the venue, filled with scenes from a fairy tale that Bendet penned, inspired by the pop-up books of Benjamin Lacombe. When you arrived, bowls filled with scrolls that contained the story were abundantly displayed in bowls, beckoning you to watch the tale, Enchanted: The Search for the Golden Monarch, unfold throughout the collection.

The clothes for fall are dark, sexy and with notes of Victorian style throughout without feeling heavy or too overdone. Many looks were quite literally wrapped with black velvet ribbon embellished with crystal-and-gold flowers. The mood is sexy and sensual; the Alice + Olivia girl is no longer dancing on tabletops, she’s out to seduce you in a storied way…and with clothes like this, you’ll both love every minute of it. I know I did. Particularly this genius coat, for which I have to start saving immediately.

Check out more photos taken from the presentation below in the gallery. It’s a dark and playful world with Alice + Olivia this coming fall. But, never fear – the collection will ensure we all live happily ever after…and look great doing it.

Love the outfits but the hairstyles are a little wacky for me!
