Are you the next big unsigned music talent? Well, perhaps instead of auditioning for a tv talent show, you should give this contest a try.
Alternative Apparel is having an “Unsigned Artist Competition” in search of untapped musical talent to represent their innovative clothing line. With the assistance of RJW Collective and Brickfish Technologies, the clothing label is offering aspiring singer/songwriters the opportunity to showcase their skills to millions via their website.
Here’s how it works: the musically-inclined should head to the site and upload a rendition of Aqualung’s “Brighter than Sunshine” by July 16th, then make sure that pretty much everyone you know (friends, family, exes, drinking buddies, the grocer around the corner) votes for you.
Based on the number of votes, the top three artists will be whisked off to New York City for an all-expenses-paid trip to perform as finalists on August 5th in front of a panel of industry experts, including Kelly Cutrone, RJW Collective partner and former Epic Records president Charlie Walk, and Alternative Apparel founder and Chief Creative Officer Greg Alterman.
Want to know what you’ll win? In addition to being featured in an upcoming Alternative fashion campaign, the winner will receive a $1,500 cash prize and participate in exclusive interviews with music editors and industry insiders (talk about doors opening for you!.) The runner’s up won’t go home empty-handed: each will walk away with $500 and a great story to tell your friends. All contest participants will receive special discounts and promotions on Alternative Apparel’s online store.
Ok, hot shot: let’s see what you’ve got. Enter to win and let’s see if you’ve got what it takes. Let us know if you enter! We’ll vote for you!
