It occurred to me yesterday afternoon that it’s my “blogaversary” – Fashion.Style.Beauty is 3 years old! I could go on for years spouting all the things I’ve learned in the past three years, but I’ll keep it brief. Here are my favorite lessons from being at the helm of this little stylish dinghy:
Appreciate what you have – I’ve sacrificed more than anyone will ever know to keep this little ship afloat and that has meant losing some personal items that I really loved. Treasure what you have. Be grateful.
Go for the experiences, not the “stuff” – Conversely, you also have to realize that things are just that – things. The memories and knowledge of life is what you will inevitably take with you through life. At the end of the day, remember that you’re the most important “thing” in your things.
Know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em – Some shoes can be stretched and some clothes can be taken in, but inevitably if you’re fighting to keep something that will just never suit you you’re just wasting time and energy. Let go of the people and things that just don’t work and make room for the ones that do.
Mind the “menders” – Be mindful of the things that can – and should – be fixed. Don’t continue to neglect relationships that are valuable or let dirty clothes rot in the corner of the closet. Suck it up and repair them. It might be expensive (and humbling,) but it’ll be worth it.
Life can be really amazing – I started this site years ago because I wanted control of my destiny and after three years it has made my life SO FULL. I hope that whatever your dream is, you grab it by the hand and yank into the here-and-now with a resounding cry: “Let’s DO THIS.” It’s a decision you’ll never forget. I
I also wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to those of you who tune in to read my musings and advice every day. It means the world to me and I hope you know that.
Here’s to another great year! Thanks for reading!
