You know how you sort of play that game, the one where you decide which luxury handbag best represents your own personal style? I’ve played this game for years with my friends and their fabulous purses and just like Goldilocks, nothing seems to be quite right until you take spy the one that’s just right for you. Ladies, after an event on Wednesday night I’ve now confirmed my favorite handbag line: I’m a Fendi girl.
Specifically the artistically crafted Baguettes. Every since Carrie Bradshaw showed her affinity for the lovely handbags years ago, I dreamed wildly of having a beautifully crafted handbag of my own. This past Wednesday, I attend an event at Fendi’s tony 5th Avenue location to celebrate the release of The Whispered Director of Craftsmanship: A Contemporary Guide to the Italian Handmaking Ability (Mondadori Electa), a tome released in collaboration with the Italian design house that speaks of the past – and future – of the country’s artisans. Arranged in alphabetical order, it pairs historical design favorites like Fendi and the Venetian glasswork of Marie Brandolini d’Adda with notable new talents such as Slow Food Movement founder Carlo Petrini.
Check out the photos in the gallery for more lust-worthy items from the legendary Italian design house and then consider picking up a little something (those green shoes and the floral beaded baguette on now on my personal Fashion Bucket List) and then definitely get this little book for the design lover in your life. It’s a fabulous way to tell someone this season that you think they’re…well, fabulous.
The Whispered Directory of Craftsmanship ($54.75) is available in Fendi boutiques and specialty bookstores in the US and Italy.
