Fashion Sneak Preview: Dinner With Kenneth Cole…or Why You Should Consider Being Friends With The Designer

I was typing away a while ago when a little black bag with a familiar typeface arrived via messenger. Inside the black bag was a Sony Bloggie MP4 Touch Camera with a little Post-It label attached that simply said, “Play Me.” The super cool video/still camera combination contained a personal invitation to an exclusive blogger dinner with legendary designer Kenneth Cole that would preview his Spring 2011 Collection. At his showroom. With the design team.

The message didn’t self-destruct but I know I had to collect my thoughts after that blew my mind. Who turns that kind of thing down? Um, not me… so you can rest assured that I went.

The dinner was held in the middle of the black-and-white showroom, with the collection displayed on an ultra-chic illuminated runway platform behind us. Accessories lined the walls on lighted pedestals and drinks were served next to the mood boards for the collection. The entire dining experience, from the cocktails to the seated dinner were planned around the three main inspirations for the collection: the rainforest, the desert plateau and the mountain range. Planned and executed by event planner to the stars Bronson Van Wyck, it was sheer perfection.

So, while you enjoy photos of the collection in the gallery below, you should know the main reason the legendary designer invited us all over. It seems that Kenneth wants to expand his social network. As in he wants you to friend him on Facebook, follow him on Twitter, etc.  He wants to give you guys more sneak peeks and chances at all sorts of exclusive deals. After you enjoy these photos of the Spring collection, I would advise you to consider becoming friends with Kenneth Cole. After all, it appears he takes very good care of his friends.

Even though I’m unpacking sweaters and planning what heavy coat I’ll be rocking this season, I’ve got an eye cast to spring and it has these clothes and accessories for men AND women all over it. Enjoy the collection! I know I did!

FTC disclosure: Sony Bloggie (with which all these fabulous photos were taken) received as part of blogger dinner invitation
