New Year’s Eve is rapidly approaching, and while I plan on getting my fancy on in a rather private way with the new dude, that doesn’t mean I’m slacking off in sweatpants. Oh no, guys and dolls – it’s time to break out the good and sexy stuff, which I like to call Project DVF 4 NYE, otherwise known as my vintage Diane Von Furstenberg dress for New Year’s Eve.
I give props to the spotting of this amazing gem to my friend, Dina Fierro of Eye 4 Style. Dina and I were perusing Beacon’s Closet one afternoon post-brunch and she spotted this on the most remote rack possible, aka The Isle of Lost Fashion Children. Dina has an amazing ability to zero right in on things like this. Her shopping fu is not to be messed with. Always shop with people who have good taste, a good eye and will tell you when you must absolutely walk away from something. They are the flowers in your fashion garden and must be loved at all times.
I love that this dress shows off the hard-earned curves from this year. I’m glad that I’ve gotten to the point where I want to show them off. No more shyness when it comes to rocking the legs, ladies and gents. It’s all glam and going out on the town tomorrow night.
And this just goes to show that vintage is the way to go if you don’t want to look like anyone else at your holiday festivities. You can bet no one else will have the same dress.
I’d be wrong if I didn’t mark the moment of this New Year’s Eve. It’s been a really, really long time since I’ve had someone with whom I wanted to spend that moment where you turn the calendar to the next page. We put so much pressure on this holiday, the requisite kiss to ring in the New Year. I’d honestly decided last year at this time that I would be okay if this wouldn’t happen. I put it out there that I was going to move across the country to Los Angeles. Lo and behold, I put those things go in motion, not remotely concerned with any kind of real kiss, and look who shows up: Lucky Guy. Now, here we are, celebrating New Year’s Eve.
I don’t know where Lucky and I will go this year, but I think I have a good idea. For right now, we’ll celebrate our first New Year’s Eve kiss and keep our fingers crossed for a very, very good year. We’ve made each other quite lucky this year, and this is just the dress to celebrate all the amazing possibilities that lie before both of us.
Happy New Year, everyone!
