ALRIGHTY! So, up at the crack of dawn today to cover backstage for Beauty High (one of my writing clients), and I was ready to go. The look at the show was gorgeous: very bedhead-y, very I-just-rolled-out-of-bed with a borrowed-from-the-boys strong brow. All the makeup was courtesy of Val Garland for Sephora Pro, using a good amount of Marc Jacobs Beauty with Buxom Sculpted Lash Mascara in True Black to make the eyes pop on the runway. The lip was a fresh nude with enough sheen to look healthy and glowing, using one of my favorite makeup brands, Hourglass, and their Femme Nude Lip Stylo in Nude No 5. Laurent Philippe for Bumble and Bumble gave the girls slept in waves using hair prepped with Bumble & Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish (a must for those of us with fine hair that falls midday) and with the midlengths wrapped around a 1 1/4″ curling iron. Gorgeous look, folks. Easy, simple. Nude nail. Done.
By the way, this backstage was nuts. This shot is how many people were standing in a space that was easily 10 x 10. Nuts, I say.
I came home to file my stories and the best present IN THE WORLD arrived: my favorite blowout gal, Erin Taylor, has gone to work for Glam Squad NYC, a home beauty service that will send geniuses like Erin to your house to make sure your hair looks gorge. Erin gives bulletproof blowouts, so I am prepared for Fashion Week. Look this service up if you’re in the city, and ask for my gal Erin. I interviewed her for a story on blowouts for Beauty High, so if you want tips from this amazing hair pro, check out the piece here. SHE IS A GODDESS WITH A HAIRDRYER.
I ran out to cover the gorgeous beauty looks backstage at Honor, a beautiful, youthful feel as if the girls had been frolicking in flowers, all courtesy of Beauty.com. Romy Soleimani for Beauty.com gave the girls a dewy complexion of Eve Lom Cleanser, gently pressed to the face with a wet muslin (a MUST for exhausted skin, especially if you fly, ladies and gents), followed with Eve Lom Intense Hydration Serum. People, models faces take a beating from show to show and if the gal’s face above can tell you how good these hydrating products are after coming from three shows, you can imagine what they’ll do for your skin. Eve Lom. Beauty.com. Do it.
I will break down the makeup (Romy Soleimani for Beauty.com, using Kevyn Aucoin), hair (super cutie James Pecis for Beauty.com, using T3 and PHYTO), and nails (Deborah Lippmann for Beauty.com) in an upcoming post tomorrow, because I have to give you every single product in these looks. It’s too good, and it’s SO EASY to do at home. Plus, we need to talk more about Kevyn Aucoin, PHYTO and all things Deborah Lippmann.
On I went to Desigual, running into tons of friends along the way. Desigual was absolutely delightful: bright, happy, filled with gorgeous Mediterranean prints and colors evoking the geographical region. I’ll do a roundup of some shots from the collection in the morning. I’m about to pass out, but so happy.
And then it was off to TriBeCa in lower Manhattan to get all glammed up for the launch of 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target. Which is when I stopped into Grandaisy Bakery for a much-needed skim latte and a cookie. Sanity break, people. Sanity.
Target Beauty had a bunch of us beauty editors over to have a blast and get all gorgeous for our close-up (in LOVE with the new Pixi Beauty collection for fall)…and then it was upstairs to shop. And shop we did. It was hand-to-hand editor shopping combat up there. The collection is TO DIE FOR. You need it. YOU. NEED. IT.
Now I’m home to soak in a bathtub and eat a little before tomorrow. It’s just Day One, and I’m feeling good! More to come, FSB mavens!
