I’m a bit nervous that I’m already tired and it’s Day Two. Hydrating, resting up, listening to lots of LOUD rock and roll on the trains to keep me upbeat.
So, let me start out with the fact that there is no outfit photo today. I made the mistake of getting dressed without laying my look out and between being bleary-eyed at 6 am this morning and a lack of planning, today’s outfit was less than cute. I would dare say it was frumpy. So, there’s no photo evidence of the Hot Mess Express I was today. Nope. Can’t win them all. Tomorrow’s look is prepared in advance. I got this tomorrow. Today? Yikes.
Today started with backstage at Phillip Lim for a client. Gorgeous hair and makeup, simple, fresh-faced and pretty. MAC Cosmetics lead Tom Pecheux created a luminous complexion, Zoya created a glam half moon mani with two colors inspired by his amazing collection, and Eugene Souleiman for Wella Professionals gave us surfer-girl-gone-downtown tousled hair, like she went surfing in the morning and returned to her edgy downtown life.
Then it was off to Kate Spade New York, where the gals took the designer’s retro chic aesthetic to new heights with highlighted winged cat eyes topped with lush strip lashes and balanced by a flushed cheeks and a girlish pink lip. Neil Scibelli for Jouer Cosmetics gave the perfect face, with Tommy Buckett for Garnier Fructis crafting a messy topknot and Deborah Lippmann crafting a gorgeous three-tone nail. Again, I’ll break down the makeup in a larger roundup, but if you grab one right this second, get Jouer Cosmetics Hydrating Lipstick in Kate (the color seen on the model above). That pink is perfection.
I raced to file some stories and take a quick bagel break after Carmen Marc Valvo, which was sleek, chic and to die for. I swoon over his uptown magical creations, and the collection was really, really lovely. These are two of my favorite shot of today’s runway.
And then I had Nautica Black Sail. Again, more in full roundups in a bit. But here’s a sneak peek from the runway. You’re welcome, ladies. You’re welcome.
Now, I’m home for a brief minute to breathe and change before a dinner. But more coming from Day Three! Happy Fashion Week, everybody!
