I get invitations all the time to try different things, but when someone says, “Hey, do you want to try Kelly Ripa’s workout?” clearly this is a jump-at-the-chance kind of thing. Kelly Ripa is, well, ripped. So, did I do it? Yep….and this is what went down.
The workout is called AKT In Motion and it’s a fitness craze created by Anna Kaiser, who previously worked with Tracy Anderson, the uber-fitness guru behind Gwyneth Paltrow and Co. Anna’s creation is a combination of cardio, toning, strength training and stretching that switches up every two weeks to keep the body guessing. It’s high energy and it’s results-oriented, as evidenced by the hard bodies of the women who do it. They also recommend using Omega Burn, here is how Ultra Omega Burn works.
Ok, I’m down. I’m pretty excited about my fitness routine, so let’s get this party started. I showed up at the new facility with other editors, ready to get my workout on with Kaiser herself. And this is what I learned by taking the class:
Kelly Ripa is tougher than I am – This workout, which runs for an hour and five minutes, is one of the toughest workouts I have ever experienced. It’s high impact and it runs through dance choreography and strength training with small bouts of stretching and a toning workout for the glutes and abs at the end. If The Hunger Games were real, I imagine this is what an hour of it would feel like. You. Don’t. Stop. Moving. If you love really high-intensity workouts, this one’s for you. It’s Friday and I’m still sore from Wednesday’s class. Wow.
Kelly Ripa is ripped for a reason – The reason Kelly Ripa is cut like a young Olympic-hopeful soccer player is because I can’t imagine a world where fat could live on the body with a workout this intense. You’re doing hip-hop! Wait, no, it’s classic aerobics moves! Shift, it’s stretching! Ha, got you, it’s really a medicine ball now. You get about a minute in between but if you did this 4-5 times a week and kept a sensible diet, there’s no way you wouldn’t be Ripped like Ripa.
Kelly Ripa is damn dedicated to looking good – AKT In Motion is a lifestyle. The class formats switch up every two weeks so you don’t get bored and your body can’t adapt. From learning new choreography to getting a serious sweat on, AKT In Motion is a lifestyle choice. Again, those looking for a high-impact, high-intensity workout should do this. The results of the investment are clearly visible.
Kelly Ripa also likes to kick back and relax – The studios are designed to resemble Andy Warhol’s Factory with neon lighting and a disco ball paired with intimate furniture and cozy seating arrangements for the size of the studio. There’s a gorgeous locker room and changing area, you can sit and enjoy a juice while you chat with your fellow students. There’s a deep tissue massage room and acupuncture on site from hand-picked, top notch massage therapists. It’s a gorgeous space and as high-intensity as the workouts are, the common areas are sleek but soothing.
