I attended an event this morning at the invitation of Glamour magazine, where we each got a chance to meet Elle, celebrity manicurist to the stars (the woman behind Jennifer Lopez‘ meticulously maintained manicure) and talk all things nails, celebrity dish and Essie polishes. Held at manicure mecca tenoverten in NYC’s TriBeCa, a group of my fellow beauty blogging brethren gathered for coffee, mimosas, bites and morning manis.
I admit, it was a great way to start the morning.
The event showcased some of Essie’s fabulous polishes, including the new Luxeffects Holiday 2011 polishes, a gorgeous set of shimmers and glitter polishes that look lovely on their own as well as with her other extensive collection of colors. Inspired by the fact that I a) wanted a red nail for the holidays and b) I wanted something very rock and roll, I decided to combine two Essie hues for a rather unexpected impact. The result is below and – hold onto your manicure appointments – it’s AMAZING.
The process is very simple to get this look, to the point where you can do it in your own home. Simply paint two coats of Essie Nail Color in Lacy Not Racy on your nails, then swipe on one coat of Essie Luxeffects Nail Color in Set in Stones. The result is a red nail that appears to be dripping in diamonds. PERFECT for the holidays, gals!
Thanks to Glamour for a gorgeous, glamorous event and to tenoverten for the killer mani. I’ll be repeating this through the New Year and I hope you will, too!
