Life’s Little Luxuries: 6 Must-Haves From Bergdorf Goodman

The Grand Dame of 5th Avenue.

Gals, I do love myself some Bergdorf Goodman. I’ve have a long affair with the store: I gaze into its windows when I’m strolling (edit: I am never strolling, I am RACING) down Fifth Avenue, I stop onto the 5F Contemporary floor whenever I get a chance, I own Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf Goodman (Sara James Mnookin, Harper Design, 2012.) I saw the movie, and I’m soon to own it (as should you.) It completed me. I adore Bergdorfs.

I’ve been a slow dollar purchaser of Bergdorf Goodman, meaning that I started my purchases small, because that’s all I could afford at the time. It doesn’t matter how much money I make, I allocate a small percentage of my budget for items and once a month or so, I buy one nice thing really nice for myself (clearly “slow” dollars are becoming faster and higher as I get further on my feet.) I typically order online due to time constraints, and the white glove service is just as amazing when those boxes arrive in your living room.

Because, here’s the deal, ladies and gentlemen: the size of your purchase should never matter. If you buy a t-shirt from Bergdorfs, they wrap it in beautiful tissue, place it gently into that signature packaging and they treat you with love.  From lipstick to Lanvin, that’s the meaning of luxury: the experience of being special. Bergdorf Goodman does this better than anyone else, in my opinion.

And if you’re really working it, maybe someday the amazing Betty Halbreich will do your personal shopping for you. I hope I get this experience someday. She’s a pistol.

These six items are currently on my Wish List. I love them so…

SHY by Sydney Evan Bezel “Hope” Ring in Yellow Gold, $125 – I love this as a holiday gift for someone, or as a great reminder for yourself.
Tom Ford Beauty Rouge Fatale lipstick, $49 – You know how Tom Ford always knows what’s sexy, like he invented the word (and he probably did)? This perfect red is absolutely Tom Ford – it’s perfection that’s up to no good.
Tory Burch Chandra Smoking Slipper in Dust Storm, $295 – The perfect holiday shoe if heels are just not your thing. Also, if you want to make them wonder at the grocery store, just rock in wearing these and ask where the caviar is kept. Smell the flowers in the greenery section and just let ’em wonder.
Alice + Olivia Adel Studded Leather Jacket, on sale for $488 – THIS IS THE JACKET I FELL FOR AT THE FALL 2013 SHOW. Oh dear sweet heavens, this jacket is EVERYTHING.
Diane Von Furstenberg Rhonda Fit and Flare Dress, $485 – The body-cinching illusions of this dress could make any woman look like Eva Mendes. It’s absolutely genius how this is constructed. Cocktail time, anyone?
Lanvin Pearly Tassel Necklace, $3790 – You know there had to be one really amazing, expensive lust item on the list. Clearly, there’s very little Alber Elbaz can do that we wouldn’t love, but the mixture of hardware, classic style and whimsy in this piece makes it a collector’s item. Plus, will someone else be wearing this everywhere? Nope. Want it. Want it BADLY.

Oh, Bergdorf Goodman…how I love thee.
