Whenever I see the words “facial” and “mist” together, it usually conjures a mental image of someone at a pool being misted with expensive floral water. Mists, you might think (as I sometimes have,) are for people with “minions.” People Who Have People Who Get Them Things. Fetch me a robe, minion, before my diamond-encrusted caviar spoon runneth dry.
Well, as entertaining as that mental image can be, facial mists are actually a rather effective part of a good skin care regimen, especially if said mist is actually a blast of skin-saving that does something other than hydrate your face (which is not to be diminished – you NEED moisture.) Cool mists can drop the surface temperature of the skin and, with that shot of coolness, pop the pores open for a second to receive some essential nutrients. Which is kind of the genius idea behind this mist from Jurlique I love and I want to talk to you about now.
The Purely Bright Mist is a small spritz of skin-toning goodness, packed with VitaBrightKX to help even out dark spots and hyper-pigmentation. The very technical sounding VitaBrightKX isn’t a crazy space-age combination of chemicals, but a combination of the natural extracts of Kakadu Plum, Citrus Unshiu Peel and African Birch that come together to give you a more even skin tone. It also contains Calendula, Witch Hazel and Daisy to soothe irritation and to help bring your skin back into a calm state. In short, it’s like dousing a burning, dark ember with a field of soothing flowers when your face screams “Fire!” after serious sun exposure. You can also use it under your moisturizer, under your makeup AND to set your makeup. Pretty cool, right?
Bonus points if you keep it in the fridge. Just spray a cool facial mist on after time in the sun…..you’ll find out just what Willis was talkin’ ’bout.
Jurlique, one of the best botanical skin care companies out there with a great eye for combining the collective powers of nature and science with a keen eye toward sustainability, knows what they’re doing. I’m a fan. Give the mist a shot this summer and please, PLEASE use sunscreen. A mist can only do so much.
