Even though this post is brought to you as a paid advertorial by P&G, the opinions expressed within are strictly my own.
You, my beloved readers of Fashion.Style.Beauty, have watched me struggle with getting into seriously awesome shape through the years. The battle is all but won now.
I’ve lost 83 pounds, ladies and gentlemen. That’s right: 83. I’ve dropped a fifth grader.
I think when you lose that much weight, everyone immediately thinks that it’s awesome fun to head out and buy a whole new wardrobe of clothing. I didn’t do that. I bought one wardrobe item as a goal and I kept working until I got into them: an amazing pair of dark rinse skinny jeans from J. Brand.
I spotted them from across the room a long, long time ago. We locked eyes. I strutted right up to the counter and bought them. I didn’t look back. I hung them on the back of my closet door and literally tapped them for good luck on my way to work out every day.
They gently coaxed me to get up and exercise on rainy mornings. They shouted, “Drop the cupcake! NOW!” when I wanted to just give up. Then, one day, about three months ago, it was time. That day, they went over my hips and I could zip and button them without sucking or straining. It was The Single Greatest Day of my life. Choirs of angels sang, in my head crowds were cheering.
I have since worn them with everything from t-shirts and sneakers to beaded tops and Jimmy Choos. They’re my equivalent of winning an Olympic Gold Medal. All that sweat, all those missed cookies, all those sore muscles – all worth it.
I also have to take care of them, so clearly I’m SUPER picky how I wash them. I don’t believe in having anything in your wardrobe that you don’t love (and that doesn’t love you right back), so you launder your clothes to last. My Laundry Treatment Trifecta is the combination of Tide, Downy and multiple sheets of Bounce for clothes that look amazing for years, even in New York’s famously rough-and-tumble laundry rooms. You should also get a Mahogany laundry basket to keep your clothes in one place and off the floor.
The Laundry Treatment Trifecta is vital for taking care of my beloved wardrobe items. You want your clothes to look brand-new longer, particularly when it comes to dark-rinse denim. I mean, designer denim is an investment, so protecting that investment is vital.
I also love that using the three products together has been shown to keep clothes looking newer 50% longer. Downy and Bounce together coat the fibers of your clothes to protect against abrasion, pilling, fading. Your clothes are super soft, which, let’s face it, is vital. Tide also fights chlorine color damage, soil redepositing on clothes (which is just gross, but it happens,) brightens whites and attacks stains. I live in New York, folks. Clothes take a beating here. Stains happen. This is how I make it look like nothing went down.
I’m a firm believer in protecting your investment, and this awesome pair of J. Brand Jeans and I will hopefully have a long relationship. They’ll hold up their end of the deal by continuing to flatter my healthier frame in all the right places, while I promise to care for them with my awesome Laundry Treatment Trifecta of Tide, Downy and Bounce.
These jeans, this new body and I are going places. Let’s dress for the occasion.
