Meet Matt, FSB’s first male addition to staff! Matt will be our resident men’s grooming expert, field testing all things fashion, style and skincare-related for all the guys out there. Let’s see what Matt has to say about his experience with a certain cologne:
Cologne has always played a big part in my life. Starting in the eighth grade, I would never leave the house without spritzing myself – OK, dousing myself – with the bottle I received from an aunt for Christmas. Fortunately, I’ve evolved as to what and how much of a fragrance I wear. You’re welcome, women of America.
With the arrival of summer, it’s time to get rid of winter’s heavy woodsy notes and opt for something light, crisp and refreshing to accompany the season and all the good things that come with it (gin & tonics and seersucker comes to mind.) Kenneth Cole Reaction cologne ($58 for 3.4 oz) hits the nail on the head with their light, crisp signature scent of the same name. It’s a clean, masculine scent that features notes of apple and lime (think crisp, not fruity) with base notes of earthy sandalwood. It’s a great light scent and is versatile enough for anything from a backyard barbecue to a black-tie wedding.
For those of you who may be reluctant to change (similar to myself,) I decided to field test my new scent on a few women I know. A close female friend said, “Damn, that’s nice – like you just got out of the shower…this is the way a man should smell.” I moved onto my harshest critics, the two girls who sit directly across from me at my office all day (the fashion critics of the office.) I slipped into my workstation without announcing my arrival and was almost immediately greeted by Girl A, who said, “Mmm, someone smells good! Is that new cologne? I LOVE it!” Girl B followed her lead with “Wow, that’s awesome! Perfect for summer. If I didn’t have a boyfriend, I’d be all over you.” The people have spoken: it’s a keeper.
I guess testimonials like that speak for themselves. Trust me, it could be the best decision you make all summer…except maybe playing hooky and heading to the beach for the day.
