About the Designer: If you’ve been reading FSB, you know that Adam Lippes is one of my favorite designers. History on the man and his uber-cool fashion creations can be found here.
The Collection: The collection was inspired by actress Charlotte Gainsbourg’s wardrobe in The City of Your Final Destination, where she played a mistress of a famed writer in Uruguay, wearing an eclectic mix of floating dresses mixed with menswear-inspired staples. What could have been basic and boring items in the hands of any other designer were safe with the talents of Lippes, who created beautifully-executed wardrobe items for every woman at – wait for it – almost any size. These are gorgeous clothes that may look simple from the onset but take a look at the execution: sheer perfection.
The cuts are pretty, sexy, elegant and effortless, a lovely addition to any spring wardrobe. Every woman will need a pair of the pants from the collection: high-waisted flares that were crafted in rather basic fabrics (denim and twill) but the shape is endlessly flattering and the array of colors was spectacular: navy, tomato red, peach and cement grey. Sweetly crafted chiffon pieces were kept from getting too saccharine with the addition of textured hand knits and rougher linens in grounding hues. Chambray was a trend throughout, bringing Lippes’ eternal love of workman staples interpreted for the luxury set. It was an elegant, wearable collection and another must-have from the designer.
