There are a few shows I never miss during New York Fashion Week and Stacey Bendet’s party girl central known as the alice + olivia collection is one of them. Always proof that one should enjoy life, Bendet’s collections and presentations are built to make sure that whatever your mood, occasion or style, there’s a whole wardrobe out there waiting for you.
Shown this season at Highline Studios in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, viewers walked into a Spring 2012 presentation that looked like a 1960’s Palm Beach garden party. With a collection filled with dresses, her famous pants (in black and white awning stripe, shown with a lemon yellow blouse and ocean blue hat – a HUGE crowdpleaser), gowns and jumpsuits, it was if a teenage girl from the 60’s was strutting the streets in current style but borrowing eveningwear from her established mother’s closet of gorgeous beaded frocks from the 20’s and 30’s. This collection also marks the premiere of the alice + olivia full shoe collection, which, trust me, as a shoe fan was DAZZLING.
Filled with options that would be elegant by day (I love the white jumpsuit) all the way through to night (a silver crochet tank dress and shrug that mimicked chain mail had me at hello,) the collection met with much excitement from the crowd. It’s a fantastic collection full of whimsical fun, glamour and style. Whether you’re at work, at play or contemplating a long vacation filled with glamorous moments, there’s something in the alice + olivia collection for you. Stacey Bendet has done it again.
