So, Milan Fashion Week has drawn to a close and the editors are on to Paris, where I’m sure the maestros of all things Parisian fashion will enthrall us with their amazing designs. Well, as someone who’s working on getting to Europe next season (it WILL happen, people) I wanted to enjoy the Milanese shows in their entirety as I would if I were sitting there. Luckily, through the magic of YouTube, we both have that chance. Sit back and enjoy the glamour and beauty of my picks for some of the best of the Milan Spring 2012 collections:
I would be remiss not to start with Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2012 Collection. Ben fatto, Stefano y Dominico. They showed an explosion of colorful prints and modern nods to vintage Italian sexy. Think Sophia Loren cooking up something in the kitchen. At times it was a bit over the top but we don’t go to D&G for subtlety, now do we? (Video via D&G’s YouTube channel.)
Then we have the 50’s noir-inspired collection from Miuccia Prada for the Prada Spring 2012 Collection, a gorgeous interpretation of vintage silhouettes (a greaser jacket, a knife-pleated A-line skirt) with exceptional lace and prints that were evocative of the era but still modern and alluring. You’ll love the presentation a lot and the clothes even more, trust me. The dress that shows up about 4:15 is an all-time personal favorite of mine. (Video via Fatale Fashion)
Frida Giannini turned classic socialite glamour on its ear this season with laser-focused, strong separates and dresses for the Gucci Spring 2012 Collection. Think classic suiting and scarf-prints cut in very sharp, sexy ways with unexpected use of embellishment. It’s a collection I image would be created if a powerful Palm Beach housewife suddenly had an affair with a rock star.
Which were your favorites? Let’s dish about fashion, dolls!
