Right now, I’m sitting here, reflecting on how things got so complicated.
I don’t know about you, but everything feels very “loud” lately. Turning on the television, my phone, my computer, even my iPad feels like I’m drinking from a firehose, like there’s a drenching of demands on my attention, time, energy, emotions, and money. I’ve got demands to pay attention to this video, this cause is turning the world upside down, and did you know about THIS?!?
So, I made the decision this past weekend to turn off the noise and return to basics. I’ve found a solace in rediscovering the happiness of classic Ray-Ban sunglasses. I love the feel of well-worn Levi’s; they’re like a hug from an old friend. As things around me seem to change at a rapid pace, I’m happy for right now to feel my age and remain uncool for a moment. The station of my brain is on a break right now, and I’m curled up enjoying good classic rock from my college days.
This week’s motivation mix (and yep, I’m back to these as a regular feature,) delights in the energy I feel from 80’s rock. Most of the songs age out right at 1989 and the sweet spot appears to be 1987 with songs from amazing rock acts like The Cult, The Smiths, INXS, Depeche Mode, Simple Minds, R.E.M and a few surprises. The whole mix is filled with songs that will take you back if you’re about my age. If you’re younger, welcome to the good stuff.
Now, let’s lace up those shoes and/or grab those yoga mats. It’s time to get back to basics.
