Ok, so I interrupt your regularly scheduled Twitter and Facebook feed to bring you something I consider to be of DIRE importance. That would be the brand new video from rock legends Duran Duran, “Girl Panic!”
I will keep this super short because a) you need to watch the video and b) it’s almost 10 minutes long (but SOOOO WORTH IT.) The video/mini-film brings two things that have been sorely missing in the world back to the forefront in high style: supermodels and long-form music video. I won’t spoil the plot but if you, like me, had the supermodels of the late 80’s-early 90’s plastered all over everything AND you yearn for the ages when MTV actually meant Music Television, then this video will make you cry and practically wet yourself with delight.
In addition to four of the original members of DD still back with them (Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor all make appearances) the main stars of the video are some of the greatest catwalk and print stunners of all time: Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen and Yasmin Le Bon. People, we ALL hope to look half this good at ANY age.
Enjoy and please send up a prayer that both the age of legendary supermodels and REALLY damned good videos are back!
Thank you, Duran Duran, for this amazing gem of fashion, music and supermodels!
Oh, and thanks to Harper’s Bazaar for the amazing images actually shot on site during the video, which are available in the December issue, soon to hit newsstands if it hasn’t already.
