Let it be known that I have gone kicking and screaming into colored jeans. I blame it on Garanimals as a child. Somehow, punchy bright denim caused a bit of fear in my heart. Because if it’s styled with similar colors, it looks like you’re matching the Zebra with the Zebra (if you weren’t a Garanimals kid, you have no idea what I’m saying, but those who do know PRECISELY what that means – matchy-matchy.)
Also, ill-fitting colored skinnies make me wince.
BUT, having found what I think is the perfect pair at Express, I’m recently converted. It was time to break into them, but how would I do make it look like, well, me?
The top is vintage – a blouse of my mom’s from the late 80’s. The sweater is a great cozy cashmere sweater from Bluefly. I love the addition of animal prints and rocker studs to the look.
It makes it decidedly more adult and most certainly more rock and roll.
Oh, and the bold pink lip had to be added. It’s a bit more unexpected than red, but just as impactful.
What I’m wearing: Express Stella Colored Jean Legging (color no longer available, similar styles here,) vintage cheetah-printed blouse, Hayden Black Cashmere Crewneck Sweater, Zara shoes (style no longer available, more styles here,) Stila Long Wear Lip Color in Caprice.
