If you’ve followed this site, you know that I’ve had a long-time love of designer Christian Siriano. The designing wunderkind has taken his knocks as he’s found his stride in the designing universe. Ladies and gentlemen, I think you will agree with me when you see the photos that with this collection, he has a winner on his hands.
Inspired by the ballet and the grace and hues of the American Ballet Theatre’s Dream Ballet in particular, the collection was filled with Siriano’s signatures touches but in a very – wait for it, fashion fans – extremely wearable manner. Dresses, flowing pants and separates opened the show and delighted the crowd in beautiful hues of sky blue, blush, nude and a delicate pink. Each piece was well constructed and styled beautifully. Park Avenue princesses to hard-working boardroom types will be receptive to these pieces. I’m particularly smitten with the baby blue leather sheath dress, a gorgeous swiss-dotted dress with a peplum and a baby blue leather jacket.
We all know that evening is where Siriano really feels his spirits soar and this time, the designer was on point. I can’t even begin to describe the details of these dresses and the embellishments – beading, pearls, ostrich feathers, etc. – added just the right touch but didn’t steal the whole look.
He’s learned to harness that love of the dramatic to move your eye all over the dress, rather than constructing a fury of details that never allow it to rest. That being said, this showstopper gown MUST make its way to the red carpet.
Women who love Siriano’s work will fall madly in love all over again, acknowledging that she is the star of the show and the dress is there to serve her, rather than some of his previous creations which, while well-crafted, tended to be a bit over-the-top for some.
I arrived early and had a chance to check out first looks, which is the dry run before the show began. The shoes for the Christian Siriano for Payless collection made their appearance and you can see that they are FILLED WITH WINNING LOOKS. We were breathless over these shoes. They are mind-blowing and you ABSOLUTELY must check them – along with everything else from the collection – out when the collection hits stores come spring.
Enjoy the fabulous photo gallery below. I think you’ll agree with me: it’s a collection that is positively breathtaking and worthy of a piece or two. You don’t need a red carpet to wear Siriano’s clothes – life is enough of a red carpet event to justify purchase.
