While I was on the red carpet doing some interviews last night, correspondent Jennifer Morales was kind enough to pick up the first show for New York Fashion Week, the amazing Heart Truth Red Dress show, which put a spotlight on women’s heart health issues. Here’s Jenn’s report below:
One of the most heartfelt shows of the season is none other than The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection. The show unites iconic designers like Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera and Norma Kamali, with well-known public figures like Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner, daughters Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Today host Savannah Guthrie, Olympic gold medal winner Gabrielle Douglas and fashionista Kelly Osbourne to celebrate women’s health and heart disease awareness. The shows kicks off Fashion Week and features more than 15 celebrities walking the runway in designers’ versions of the Red Dress- the symbol for the campaign which is sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
The show is a beautiful celebration of women and who better to open it than the smart and talented Soledad O’Brien confiently donning a Black Halo Eve off-the-shoulder belted gown. She was followed by Olympic medalist Gabrielle Douglas who was elegantly showcasing a deep v-neck creation by Pamella Roland worn with a sophisticated low side chignon. The always-sassy Wendy Williams strutted the runway in a Norma Kamali all-in-one dress worn as a one-shoulder stunner.
Expect to see more women rocking the red dress during this season and more to come along with an increased awareness on heart disease. It’s entirely preventable and only you can take control of your heart health.
