If you’re not as familiar with Katie Gallagher’s work, I’d encourage you to do so. The high fashion priestess of intricate clothes with plenty of attitude is one of my favorites and tends to have a very sculptural aspect to her clothing. She’s one of those designers whose shows I attend with sincere excitement of viewing not only the silhouettes she creates, but the incredible details that are part of each look.
This season, I managed to get to the show early enough to get a spot right next to the runway during first looks (where they test the looks under the lights and make sure everyone is in the right order), so I had a spectacular vantage point. Close enough, in fact, to shoot the actual runway on which they were standing, which looked like some kind of moon surface-like sand. It gave the girls a very dreamlike surface on which to walk (and I imagine was a bit more kind to their feet than regular runways.)
The collection for Spring/Summer 2013 is entitled “Everything Forever,” and it’s inspired by the concept of rebirth and purity, the fact that the soul can remain pure no matter what happens to us, but that the remnants of our past remain with us forever. With a minimal color palette of cream, black and metallic slate, and with intricate details such as peplums, high-neck halters, cutouts and a delightful play of hard and soft textures, this collection was filled with statement pieces that would be a fantastic addition to the wardrobe of the woman who likes artistic impact pieces.
Check out the photos in the gallery below. Also, please note the AMAZING jewelry by Megan Isaacs and the spectacular shoes by Plomo.
On the ethereal beauty front, the gorgeous hair and makeup came courtesy of Romero Jennings and M·A·C Pro Team for M·A·C Cosmetics and Cesar Ramirez at Dop Dop for Moroccanoil, respectively. The futuristic nails were done by Casey Herman for Julep. All in all, a spectacular collection and something I know I’ll be considering come Spring 2013. Enjoy the picture. I really think you’ll love them.
