I had a chance to speak with designer Monika Chiang at her inaugural presentation, where I feel madly in love with every pair of shoes the woman designed. As in, the woman has never designed an accessory that hasn’t made me positively apoplectic with joy.
This season, inspired by a recurring theme of flight and aviary shapes mixed with vintage military influences, it’s sharp, sexy and luxurious. Three things that make my day every time.
The fabrics carried the theme, with leather, spikes, bonded wool-cotton, cashmere, fur and silk coming together in a wardrobe with structure and purpose.
Personally, I love how Monika’s collections always have a touch of bondage thrown into them. It’s almost like you’re getting an inside peek into the kinky inner workings of the Park Avenue set. It’s pretty sweet, if you ask me.
But where Chiang comes alive every time is the accessories, and this fall collection is no exception. Every handbag is a joy..
every shoe is to die for…
even the belts will make you cry with joy.
Oh, Monika, how I love you. Well done!
