Happy Wednesday, everybody!
So, I’m back from a summer of a lot of work and a fair amount of play. I was able to take a little time off but I also took on three new clients…and a book editing gig…and, well, let’s just say that balance is a great goal for which I strive, but when the hustle is on, you ride the hustle.
Oh, did I’m launching myself into New York Fashion Week, starting today?
So, as I’m admittedly a little more tired than I’d like to be starting the biannual sprint between shows, I’m excited to announce that we’re going to be doing it a little differently this time.
The first thing is that I’m only covering Fashion Week for my site this time. Which means I get to shoot photos the way I want and actually enjoy hanging out backstage with the artists, stylists, designers and their madcap crews that put together those spectacular shows. I’m excited for this opportunity to give Fashion.Style.Beauty readers a different point of view coupled with a schedule that isn’t designed for me to race across Manhattan eight times in one day.
I’m also giving you guys a chance to see what goes on backstage. I’ve gotten permission to shoot some really interesting shows with a great insider angle, so you’ll get to see what happens behind the scenes at quite a few of the shows. We’ll do a little trend spotting, a little model ogling and have a good time.
This is also a season of change. I’m not attending some of the shows I’ve attended in the past, but the lineup is extraordinarily exciting because we BOTH get to see amazing new designer that I’ve been dying to see. This time, we’re going to Tracy Reese, Costello Tagliapietra, Dannijo, Kate Spade and a bunch of awesome little surprises I have in store. We’re also going to visit some old friends, like Naeem Khan and Reem Acra. I’m pleased to say that we’re going to the evening presentation of Polo Ralph Lauren in New York’s legendary Central Park.
As for me, I’m going into this season with a more relaxed view of things. I want you all to see what I see, so I’ll be shooting a lot of the awesome clothes, the gorgeous people and some of the sweeter moments. I want to soak it in. I want to see the beauty in this time. None of any of this is guaranteed. I work really hard each season to earn my seat at the shows, to earn a place backstage among the best and brightest of my industry. I want to enjoy the fruits of those labors.
And so, starting this afternoon around 1 pm, check out all the action on Instagram from backstage and front of house at Dannijo, and we’ll go from there. I hope to show you some beautiful things this season.
And with that, I’m off!
