There are certain wardrobe items that you never fall out of love with. For most of us, it’s the perfect pair of jeans that make our legs and backside look amazing. For me, it’s a black leather motorcycle jacket. I have three of them, and I want more.
My love affair with black leather motorcycle jackets started as a little girl when John Travolta wore his T-Birds jacket in Grease, and then Olivia Newton-John turned up the heat in her own version of the look. That pretty much did it for me. Other girls were obsessing over the Pink Ladies satin jacket, but I had a touch of Rizzo in my soul and, for me, nothing short of a leather jacket – and the boys who would wear them – would do.
I still have a thing for both leather jackets and the men who rock them, but the borrowed-from-the-boys style is so current and now in fashion that it seems everyone is releasing their take on it. Which is why I tend to turn to Johan Lindeberg project, BLK DNM, for its purist interpretation of the rough-and-tumble style essential. The idea may be borrowed from masculine history, but the style is made to flatter the female form. I’ve had a bit of an obsession with the BLK DNM label, and this black leather jacket from the brand is going to make its way into my wardrobe come fall.
Timeless, classic, and it really smacks some attitude into anything, this leather jacket is one of my new favorite objects of desire. This jacket, paired with pretty much everything in your wardrobe from a black sheath dress to a ball skirt reeks of cool attitude. It’s an instant wardrobe upgrade.
