I must be on some kind of a a python kick lately, because I’ve featured the item more than a couple of times. While this might anger animal rights activists, I really do try to feature a good balance of faux and real items on here. Unfortunately, we’ll have to ride out this plethora of posts in which this snake becomes part of a rather luxurious collection of fashion items.
Gucci’s spring collection for 2012 is a 1970’s-inspired glam fest, reflecting not only the rich color palette and silhouettes of the era but it’s obsession with reflective surfaces, touches of art deco and a love of all things luxe and sinful to touch. Studio 54 was the scandalous benchmark of the era and so this impeccable collection from Frida Giannini is a touch more clothes but with all the sex appeal for which that – and present-day Gucci – are known.
This handbag is one of the first of the accessories to be released from the collection, a louche luxe swingy handbag in hand-painted python with a chain strap. The inside is lined with leather. There is no mistaking its appeal and the vibrant color scheme is less offensive than the amount of neon to which you’re about to be subjected in the coming season. In short, it’s a work of art and worth every penny.
So, in true 70’s style, get this bag, then do a little dance, make a little love and get down tonight. This is the bag that will see you through all those activities in pure style.
