So, I’m getting ready to move.
Moving has always been a time of purging for me, the shedding of a proverbial skin. Since I’m not going very far (I’m just moving to a bigger apartment in my own building in Harlem,) you’d think I’d just take everything from one place to another. But it feels right to let go of the things that served me here in my little treehouse apartment on the top floor. When I move, I want to lighten up considerably.
Let’s be honest: it’s also a great excuse to redecorate.
In this next iteration of home style, I want to get some really gorgeous bath towels. Right now, my bathroom is dove gray and baby blue with black accents. It’s pretty, but after a while it’s kind of, um, boring. This new bathroom is smaller than my current one, but I get to paint it (#rentalproblems.) In my head, this means painting it a bright neutral (to add light and the illusion of space) and accent it with vivid patterns. I’m actually trying to implement this throughout the apartment with all manner of fabrics. It’s a big project, so I’m excited to show you the before and after photos as it progresses.
But the bathroom comes first.
I recently discovered these Pendleton towels on a deep dive into Pinterest (because, what else would I do when looking for decoration inspo?) and fell head over heels in love. They’re gigantic (40″ x 70″) and in the gorgeous patterns for which the company is known. See also: my mother is a Pendleton addict. That woman has at least 30 things in her wardrobe from the Oregon-based company. Jackets, blanket skirts, shirts, suits: you name it, she has it. I’m silently giggling to myself that I’ve just followed suit.
But not only are the patterns and products beautiful, they’re durable. We still have jackets Mom bought in the 80’s. That makes me excited for the longevity of these towels.
More on the decor project as it unfolds, but definitely expect these towels to make the cut.
