Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is rapidly upon us, which means that it’s time to truly consider the wardrobe options. Between attending shows at the tents, lunches with some of the industry greats and after parties that last way into the evening, you need a wardrobe that is chic enough to go from early morning backstage calls to the swankiest nightspots in Manhattan with the simple change of an accessory or two. It puts even the most fashionable wardrobe through its paces.
Hence, my desire to rock this unbelievable jacket from the glorious Ports 1961. This is edgy glamour at its best: a cropped jacket with a leather back and sleeves with an attached bouclé cloak and a buckled belt.
The cropped shape gives it edge, the buckled belt adds punk edge (and functionality) and the special detail of a Grosgrain-backed leather strap extending from right shoulder is so lovely. This is the jacket that could work with a million different items underneath from a spring dress layered with tights to slinky black leggings and wedge boots. In short, it’s more than up to the task.
Not attending Fashion Week? That’s ok. This jacket would be perfectly suitable for anyone who needs a not-so-basic-black jacket that will give their wardrobe an instant upgrade. Which is pretty much everyone.
