I’ve had some time to think about this week’s playlist. I think so many times we women forget how incredibly powerful we are. This week, it’s time to unleash our collective inner badasses and let them party on the tabletops.
As a matter of fact, I’m announcing this week as a Festival of Badassery. No one is waking me up to get to these 7:00 am workouts, no one’s coercing me to make these healthy food choices in a world where ice cream exists and knows I love it so. When I moved to New York with one suitcase and $300 in my wallet, no one gave me a job or handed me the keys to create what I have now. I built that. I know that we as women don’t celebrate our successes that often, but we SHOULD. Building a career from nothing over the past eight years has been hard. I DID THAT. Losing almost 100 lbs. has been (quite literally) backbreaking work. I DID THAT. Every time I’ve landed on my face in the fire, I’m the one that pulled myself out. I DID THAT.
Therefore, I am a badass, and I invite you to celebrate your own badassery.
Did you have a kid? YOU DID THAT. How about become self-sufficient? YOU DID THAT. Who makes your household run every day? YOU DO THAT. Have you overcome someone not doing what they said they do for you? How about overcome a broken heart? Yep, YOU DID THAT. How many times have you had to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps so you could suit up and show up? A lot, right? YOU DID THAT. Take a minute and just make a mental list of wins. Go ahead, I’ll wait. See? YOU ARE WINNING. Even if this moment feels rough right now, WE’RE DOING IT.
And so, this is a playlist for all of us. Even if the best thing you can do for yourself is take a nap, you go right ahead. For all of us who meet ourselves and each other at the corner of Shut Up and Do It every single solitary day, this week’s motivation mix is to celebrate how amazing we are.
And we are just that: amazing. Celebrate yourself this week!
