Style Lab: Transition Into Spring With Three Essential Items From Chaps

Spring is almost ready to spring, which brings with it fun thoughts of dining al fresco, days at the beach, reading a book in the park and fun fashion options! Problem is, how do you dip into those fun spring essentials and give them a stylish upgrade while trying not to freeze your backside off unnecessarily?

I recently accepted a challenge to style some spring essentials from Chaps, the all-American clothing line available at your friendly neighborhood Kohl’s. I chose three pieces every woman basically has in her existing wardrobe (and if you don’t, you should get them): white capris, a slubbed olive Henley and a chambray work shirt.

These three things together are fine for running errands, but how do you kick them up a little AND use them to battle the elements while the weather increases.

Style notes:
– I chose not to button the shirt and instead belted it at the waist. This adds definition and it’s a very slimming trick. This belt is one of my favorites.
– I added a faux fur vest over the shirt. Don’t let the seasons get you into a what’s-appropriate-when rut. Fur vest are great accent pieces and can add interest and warmth when there’s a chill in the air.
– I live for bangles and oversized watches as accessories. They can instantly add an air of luxe without going over the top.
– Add black ballet flats and a fabulous handbag and you’re ready to handle spring weather in style! This is fabulous for everything from running errands (and making your friends jealous) to brunch with your friends (and making your friends jealous.) Best thing is, there are so many ways

Here’s the rundown of the pieces I’m wearing

Pants: Chaps Denim Capris in White (available at Kohl’s)
Top: Chaps Slubbed Henley in Spring Olive (available at Kohl’s)
Button-down: Chaps Chambray Shirt (available at Kohl’s)
Faux fut vest: LOGO by Lori Goldstein Faux Fur Vest with Draped Neck (available via QVC)
Shoes: American Eagle black flats (available at Payless)
Jewelry: La Mer Brown Rose Gold Oversize Vintage Watch (available via La Mer’s website) and various bracelets from RJ Graziano and Monet
Handbag: Lauren Ralph Lauren Glouchestershire Large Tote (available via Ralph Lauren’s website and fine department stores near you)

Stay tuned for more styling tips from the FSB Style Lab! Thanks, Chaps!

FTC Disclosure: Chaps was nice enough to give me the three items to style and compensate me to style these pieces. I would have bought them anyway. 🙂
