So, I just recently learned the joys of dress dressing. I don’t know why it took me until I hit my early 40’s to learn that throwing one garment over my head is the Key to Getting Things Done. I mean it: why so long, people?
All that being said, the maxi dress is something that helps me get that effortless Laurel Canyon vibe I love so much, mixed with the Sunset Boulevard rocker scene items that I crave (this whole move to LA is making more and more sense, right?) In all honesty, I’ve been holding onto this RACHEL Rachel Roy maxi dress forever. I bought it last year and I didn’t fit at all. Now it does and I can’t stop wearing it.
So, I loved mixing hard with soft: a leather jacket with a dip-dyed maxi dress and sandals. Rock the dress on its own, throw the jacket on when the sun goes down. Throw on some jewelry with skulls and suddenly it’s very Slash-goes-to-the-beach, but I think it works. At the end of the day, it’s very me: a little bit canyon, a little bit rock and roll.
What I’m Wearing: RACHEL Rachel Roy maxi dress (a similar – and damned cute – style available here, RACHEL Rachel Roy Skull Knuckle Ring and Earrings (no longer available, similar styles here), vintage sandals, ASOS Silver Aviator Sunglasses, Lulu Frost Britnee Bracelet, Lia Sophia ring (similar styles here), Kenneth Cole New York Washed Leather Jacket
