Style Remix: Curves, Studs, Stars and Stripes Forever

I don’t know about you, but by the time summer comes around, I’m through with any wardrobe item that requires effort, ironing or could possibly involve sweating. It’s just not that kind of party when the sun and mercury start to head up the scale. Which is why I’ve become a recent convert to dresses.

I’m also a fan of letting your hair do what it’s going to do during the summer. Look, here’s the deal: at some point, beating your hair into submission is a losing game, particularly when the humidity starts to play game with your texture. I’m a fan of packing hydration into your hair and then working with your actual waves or curl pattern on days when you just know that it’s not going to work to add heat. I literally twisted my hair, added some Kerastase Elixir Ultime The Imperial and threw it up with a Jennifer Behr headband. It’s too hot to freak out.

I’m also a fan of the Old Navy sale rack, which is where I scored this dress for $8. Seriously. $8. Jersey dresses are the easiest thing on Earth in the summer, and it doesn’t matter who makes them, really. I’ve worn this with a structured blazer and colored pumps to meetings and it works out great. Save your money for the structured blazer and the heels, ladies.

I’d also like to dispel this whole you-shouldn’t-wear-stripes-if-you-have-curves thing. That’s a load of bs. Smaller stripes are awesome. It’s the giant awning-sized ones you have to worry about. I love stripes and I own a LOT of them. Have fun and show off your figure. Stripe it up!

This whole summer seems like it’s filled with possibilities. I’m really excited to see what’s next.

Coco Chanel once said that you should remove one thing before you leave the house. I believe in that principle…until it comes to bracelets. Then I old-school-Madonna it up and I don’t look back.
