“Hey, Kristin,” you say. “Whatcha doin’ this weekend?”
Why, I’m glad you asked. I’m going to be heading to The Morrison Hotel Gallery to be one of the first to check out Melody Maker: The Best Years 1965 – 1975 – The Photography of Barrie Wentzell here in Manhattan. As a longtime fan of rock photography and rock and roll (and as a budding photographer myself), I have to check out one of the legends in action. All photos within this post will be shown at the exhibit are from the renowned Melody Maker resident photographer and will highlight forty (40) pieces from his extensive vault of snaps of some of the greatest in rock and roll history.
He got his start from a chance encounter with Diana Ross and has toured with Led Zepplin. He’s shot Elton John, Louis Armstrong, Jimi Hendrix, Little Richard, Bob Dylan and Aretha Franklin just to name a few and I want to be front and center to see what he and The Morrison Hotel Gallery have decided to showcase.
If you want to check out the exhibition, it’s open to the public starting this Friday, September 28th and will run through October 21st. I know I plan on checking this out. I hope you will as well. Rock on, peeps.
