Sunday Funday: A Little Makeover Magic With My Friend At Arrojo Studio

There are few things I enjoy as much as spending time with good friends. Honestly, in the hectic circus that has become my life, it’s a pleasure that’s so intensely rare and fleeting that I treasure and savor those moments like fine wine, regretful at the last sip.

This past Sunday allowed me a chance to indulge in two of my favorite pursuits simultaneously (and I highly recommend you follow suit): time with my beautiful, long-time friend Tara Chiarell and a brand new choppy haircut courtesy of Jessica Whalen at Arrojo Studio. The lovelies at Socialyte invited me to come for the fun and Tara was game (and in town from a long trip,) so it was off for blowouts and catch-ups, beauty editor style.

The lovely Arrojo Studio on Varick Street brought us all together to celebrate the fact that they’re open on Sundays! YES, people. If you want to get your blowout on, you need wait ’til Monday no longer! Make an appointment and enjoy the new brunch menu at their cafe (honestly, why can’t you eat while you get your hair done? Models do backstage all the time!) and you can sip their lush mimosas and walk out well-fed, happier and looking way better than you did when you walked in.

I mean, let’s talk hair, shall we? I just had my hair cut and it was growing out. So much so that it started to resemble every bad “in-between” cut I’ve ever had. I no longer believe in such a condition (you have to look good while your hair grows out, there’s just no excuse,) so I had the fabulous Jessica take the back up and add some choppy layers on top. The result? Magic. I love my new haircut and I’ve found a lifelong partner-in-crime in my beloved Jessica. Picture is above. You like?

Tara opted for long layers (and let’s face it, she’s gorgeous anyway, right?) and we bounced out to continue catching up and proceeded to take our fabulous hair across to City Winery’s Barrel Room for a glass of wine and some serious bartender flirtation. I blame it all on the sexy haircut, believe me.

So, now that I’ve reconnected with my bestie AND we BOTH have fabulous new coifs to show for it, I’d encourage you to make an appointment at Arrojo Studio anytime during the week. As a matter of fact, they’re running a 2-for-1 special with a $10 brunch so you can enjoy the same experience Tara and I enjoyed.

Time with friends = special. Time with friends over brunch where your hair looks amazing afterward = genius. Get on this one, folks. Because time with friends  – and cute hair – aren’t just luxuries: they’re necessities.
