Sunday Reflections: I Am Not For Everybody

I am not for everybody.

From the quirkiness of my spirit to the way that I dress, from the song in my heart to my management of stress. My laugh is too loud, my hips, how they swell; my dreams, they are big…and I’m driven, so, well….

I am not for everybody.

People dismiss me with their words, they turn their backs on my ways; I’ve had more of this experience the most recent of days. Yet, I brush it off my shoulders, their actions can’t sway.

I am not for everybody.

The life I desire? It’s big and not hateful. The plate that I’m filling is overflowing and grateful. From my positive prose and the song in my heart, you’ve no means to dismiss me, so don’t even start. The future is bright, and my eyes, how they shine. I shrug off your fears, my dreams are bigger than thine.

I am not for everybody.

I leave you with love, but leave you I must. With a turn of my hip and a thrust of my bust, I’ll spin on my heel and leave you in dust. We’ve no argument here, but, really, it’s just….

I am not for everybody.
