Weight Loss Video Diary: The Results Of Core Fusion Week Five AND A Peek Inside The Exhale Studio!

Hello, hello all! I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day Weekend. Everyone was asking for a video where you can actually SEE what I look like now after five weeks on the Core Fusion Challenge with Exhale. Your wish is my command. Here is a full-length video so you can see what my body looks like now in one of my new favorite dresses. Oh, AND I’m taking you inside the Soho studio so you can see where I spend the majority of my time these days getting long, lean and healthy!

I’m also going to answer some of the most common questions I get on Facebook, Twitter and email:

How often do you do the class? I’m pretty regimented: four times a week.  On a good week, I go five times but the average is four.

I’m scared of Core Fusion. Does it hurt? This is the question I get every single day. It’s not medieval torture, people, it’s an exercise class. It doesn’t hurt but it is very challenging. The fear is all in your head. You can’t be afraid of an exercise class. It’s like any other exercise regimen that gets results: you’ll feel the burn, you’ll be a little sore after your first few classes and you’ll advance. Just remember to eat protein and drink a good healthy juice after your class and you’ll be fine.

Has your diet changed? YES! As part of the 90-Day Challenge, I’m working with Holistic Health Counselor Kayleigh Pleas to create a different way of eating. I eat “clean” about 90% of the time, which means all the food I eat is organic, hormone and chemical-free, sustainable and locally grown.  I haven’t really eaten meat in the past six weeks, just chicken and fish with the occasional pork item. I eat a lot of veggies, soups, salads, nuts and seeds in my kitchen. I also basically gave up alcohol. I’m never hungry, I’m never cranky and I’m also never hung over. I don’t consider it a diet since I don’t have restrictions. I just eat these types of foods when I’m hungry and I’m done. I eat a lot.

What are the changes you’ve seen in your body? EVERYTHING has basically changed. My frame is longer and leaner. I have abdominal definition and my core is rock solid. My arms, legs and seat are beautifully sculpted. I’m physically stronger. I still have a layer of subcutaneous fat over the tops of my arms and stomach but that will go away with time. It didn’t get there overnight and it won’t leave overnight.

What other changes have you experienced? The mind body connection that Exhale talks about is the real deal. I feel like I’m much more connected with my body in a way I’ve never been before. I’m at peace with myself. I’m not prone to mood imbalances. I sleep like a baby. I haven’t gotten sick (save the crazy allergies everyone had in late April.) I write more swiftly. My mind is more agile. I laugh more. It’s a game changer, people. I’m happy.

How much weight have you lost? I’m down 15 lbs and it’s the beginning of Week Six. My goal is to get down another 20 lbs and stop.

Is this challenge just to get thinner? Actually, no, although I’d be lying if I said the effects of dropping a dress size weren’t amazing. When I started working out, I had some serious health concerns. I have a family history of heart disease and diabetes and I’ve struggled with getting the weight off for years. While getting down to a size 8 is the nice vanity aspect of it, the truth is that the weight I’m shooting for is a doctor-recommended body weight that puts me safely within a healthy BMI and reduces my risk of heart attack, stroke and diabetes by a wide margin. I want to live this way for the rest of my life. This is only the beginning of my journey.

What’s next? I’m going to mix it up with the other types of Core Fusion classes, like Core Fusion Sport and Core Fusion Cardio. I’m addicted to Core Fusion Yoga!

What’s your advice to start a Core Fusion program? DO NOT BE AFRAID TO START. Honestly, I was the person who had a million of those tomorrow-I-start-my-diet days Don’t diet. It’s just a trap. Change your LIFE. Find a means of exercise and eating that fulfills you and that you can maintain and then devote your life to that practice. For me, eating organic, locally-grown food that’s in season and doing Core Fusion and yoga works for my health and my ethics but you have to do what’s right for yourself. But please, women die every year of complications from heart disease and obesity. As a formerly morbidly obese woman, I beg you to make even the smallest change today.
