A lot has happened since I last posted my weight loss adventures using Weight Watchers Points Plus. Things that would normally cause me to sink into a bag of potato chips and tuck into a couple of glasses of red wine and forget about life for a while. Things that would normally cause me to gain weight.
But NO. Lo, I did NOT sink into an entire bag of potato chips! I did NOT roll a week deep in glasses of wine and/or bar snacks with friends. No, I stand before you today NINE POUNDS lighter and feeling pretty freaking happy about the situation. I counted my points and decided that this was the time that the food wasn’t going to win. I WAS.
A few additions of note helped this weight loss along tremendously over the past three weeks:
- I have been going to the gym, using the Transitions Recovery Program like a fiend. That’s right, kids – five times a week, three spinning classes a week plus two days of cardio plus weights and a sculpting class. People, if you can handle spinning, there’s no faster way to shave weight off in the beginning from my experience and adding strength training to this only serves your purpose more because it burns fat.
- I have decided to give up alcohol during this time. The excess calories in my favorite beverages were adding up faster than I could even count them. If you see me with what looks like champagne (my favorite) it’s actually ginger ale in a champagne flute. 🙂
- I try to front load my points so that my lightest meal is at night. It helps me sleep and my stomach feels so much better (and flatter!)
- I do not deny my cravings, I just have less of whatever it is I’m craving. Tiny cheats keep me from diving head first into a large bag of buttered popcorn or a huge mound of cake on a “cheat day.” If I have a small taste and count the points, I can manage better because I’m not denying myself. It’s what the Points Plus program is all about.
So, got on the scale and nine pounds in three weeks is pretty freaking awesome. But I have an even bigger goal now and I’m going to ask you to join me. My birthday is June 9th and I am planning on dropping a dress size by the time I hit this birthday. It’s one of those big ones that end in a zero, so looking spectacular is in order.
This means that I’m going to take you along with me. Every Wednesday, I’m going to post a new video and track my progress right here on the site. I’ll list my exercise and diet stats for all to see (talk about keeping myself honest) and will take you along with me on the journey, right up to the big birthday celebration one size smaller and to the inevitable goal of 40 lbs lost.
