Winter White Denim: Dreams Of Los Angeles

One of the biggest questions I get lately is whether or not I’m still moving to Los Angeles, especially after meeting Lucky Guy. Part of me thinks this is kind of funny, especially since we’re having Weather By Ouija Board over here on the East Coast. It’s freezing —painfully so — which sends my thoughts to palm trees and the bright sunshine I left in December when I taped the episode of The Doctors.

Since I wrote a post about that, I thought I’d write a post about where my mind is today.

I am someone who has admitted practiced “relocation therapy” in the past. When things get to a point where I don’t really want to work through things, I think a change of scenery will do the trick. I’ve historically stopped short of throwing a dart at a list of  potential places that feel like they’ll suit my mood, but the thoughts of moving to LA and expanding the business to the West Coast made sense and continue to make sense. As a fashion and beauty writer, there are plenty of opportunities for me to spread my wings out there.

But, truth be told, the thoughts about moving to LA were also caused by a considerable amount of malaise about living in New York. I’ve been here a long time, and somehow LA seemed to offer something fresh and new. Meeting someone incredible has done something I didn’t think was possible: it’s somehow made New York new and fresh again. We are not without challenges. No couple is. But, suddenly people practically sitting on me in the subway every morning doesn’t turn me to thoughts of homicide. For now, I’m happy to fall more in love with this man, and, as an interesting turn of events, fall more in love with New York.

It doesn’t mean that I’m not eventually moving to the sunny shores of California. I still plan on doing more television and spending more time out there over the next year. But, there’s no huge hurry anymore.

For now, I salute you with a New York coffee…and white jeans. That’s one thing from LA I’ll take with me forever. White jeans: all year, every day, forever in style.

What I’m Wearing: Forever 21 sweater, J. Brand white jeans, DV by Dolce Vita boots, Zara scarf, Ray-Ban Wayfarers. Lipstick: Hourglass Cosmetics Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Raven.
