Let me start this post by saying that I am new to the concept of wearing makeup to the gym. I have previously been of the mindset that a workout facility was where one could safely operate in a Vanity Free Zone whereby makeup and hair was not a big deal.
Alas, I have learned that people do indeed check each other out during even the most vigorous of workouts. All that testosterone raging, muscles bulging and people sweating means that you will indeed get the once-over.
OK, so that being said, there’s a gorgeous look that can be quite simply achieved somewhere between looking like a cast member of Jersey Shore and my former approach of au naturel starkness. Here are four easy, melt-proof makeup essentials to look hot at the gym:
Clinique Superbalanced Makeup – This oil-free formula will give you the appearance of even skin while doing something amazing: adding moisture where needed and absorbing oil where it appears. It’s water-resistant and provides good moderate coverage that won’t wipe off when you sweat AND will let your workout glow shine through.
Sephora Collection Professional Clear Mascara – This product is genius because it does two things that are vital to looking gorgeous when drenched in sweat. First, it will give your eyes a gorgeous dewy effect while adding invisible length that will make your own lashes appear naturally longer. Second, if it starts to come off, NO ONE WILL KNOW. Use it to hold your eyebrows in place as well.
NARS The Multiple in Orgasm – Although you’re going to get that natural glow from working out, sometimes you’ll want a little assistance. This flushed hue looks perfect on everyone and can be used for lips, cheeks and eyes. Swipe a little on and you’ll be a manslayer. It’s an industry standard for a reason.
TheBalm Stainiac – You do not want your hair to get stuck in your lip gloss during a Spinning class, nor do you want to look unnaturally shiny while lifting weights. This stain is perfect because it will stay put after it sets and the color will remain well after you towel off. You can also use it as blush in a pinch.
And that would be it. Please refrain from eyeliner, colored eyeshadows and powder anything at the gym. It might look good walking in, but I assure you it is WAY less pleasant to look at after 60 minutes of exercise or more. These four products will enhance all the right things in all the right ways so you walk out with a tighter backside and more attention than a Pussycat Doll.
You’re welcome, ladies.
